I’m honoured to step into the role of Chair of the Green Roof Organisation and grateful to the Board for placing their trust in me. I want to extend my sincere thanks to our outgoing Chair, Giles Doland, for his service, knowledge and counsel over recent years.
As you may be aware, the Board and Committees are made up of volunteers from our member organisations. The time that is given to serve the mission of GRO is greatly appreciated. We also benefit from the insight and specialist knowledge of advisors Sharon Ford, Jeff Sorrill and Olivia Brooke and I wish to take this opportunity to thank them for their contributions.
As we look ahead to the next three years, my focus is on delivering real value for you at a time when the economic landscape remains challenging. Together, as an industry, we can accelerate the growth of green roofs on both new and existing buildings by raising awareness, breaking down barriers, and providing clear, trusted guidance to the market.
GRO will continue to lobby government, strengthen our ties with partner organisations, and expand our collaboration with colleagues across Europe and the wider global community. Over the coming year, we’ll be hosting events across the UK to improve accessibility, and I plan to spend time visiting member organisations to hear directly from you about what you need from GRO as we move forward.
Our sector has come a long way, thanks to the vision and dedication of many, and I’m committed to building on that foundation. With your support, we can continue to champion high standards, expand skills and training, and ensure green, blue, and biosolar roofs play a central role in the UK’s sustainable future.
I look forward to working with all of you in the years ahead and to hearing your ideas and perspectives. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions about how GRO can continue to support you and our growing sector.
